Blizzard? Not ‘snow’ much

SunAlthough New England appears to have been hit hard, a more easterly than predicted path of Monday’s snowstorm appears to have spared Chester County, as snowfall counts amounted to less than an inch in some parts of the county.

Although light snow was falling Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) is not predicting much in the way of additional accumulations and roads are generally in good condition, although there are still some icy patches and drivers should use caution, local authorities say.

Schools across Chester County were all open — albeit all on delayed schedules as school administrators attempted to figure out what the true impact of the storm would be — disruptions in general appear to have been minimal. Some colleges did close, including Lincoln University and Delaware Community College, but West Chester University is open after a delayed start.

The storm — which did bring some gusty winds to the area — appears not to have caused much in the way damage. PECO was reporting no power outages in Chester County as of Tuesday morning.

Although a cold front is expected to push through the area this weekend and bring frigid temperatures for Saturday, no major snow events are seen in the next few days — the possibility of light snow showers on Thursday is in the forecast, but most of the next seven says looks dry, the NWS forecast says.
