WILKES-BARRE – PSP STRONG, INC. announced this week it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.

Contributions donated to PSP STRONG are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization on or about March 25, 2015.

PSP STRONG is now also eligible to apply for government and foundation grants which will further broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to provide financial assistance for the benefit of the men and women of the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and their families in times of illness, crisis or tragedy.

PSP STRONG, INC. announced this week that it has received a grant in the amount of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation to further our purpose to benefit the state police members and their families and to bolster community support in accordance with our mission statement.  These funds will be distributed in the near future as we team up with programs run by PSP and some other programs organized by troopers that help enrich the lives of children in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.  PSP STRONG is very grateful to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation for their generosity and support of both PSP STRONG and the PSP.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation is dedicated to the physical, educational and emotional development of kids in our community.

“We believe that given a safe and nurturing environment ‘Kids Will Change the Future’. We whole heartedly embrace PSP Strong’s powerful statement ‘In this family, no one fights alone!’ and as part of their family we will provide ongoing support of their efforts to bolster community support,” commented Dave Soltesz President Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.

In addition, as part of continuous efforts to allow the people of the commonwealth to support the Pennsylvania State Police, PSP STRONG will be fundraising at the 2nd Annual Officers Down 5K (OD5K) in Lehighton, PA on Saturday, April 9 at 10AM.  This will be the fourth event in which PSP Strong and OD5K joined forces.  “The mission and goal behind the Officers Down 5K was to bring communities together on ‘just a day’ rather than wait until an officer was killed in the line of duty. It is important that we come together as a community to support those who serve daily keeping our families safe. We will continue our positive movement to support and celebrate those in blue,” remarked TJ Burke, Founder of OD5K.

Finally, PSP STRONG, INC.  announced that it has begun to make disbursements of funds raised by its website and public fundraising.  This is all thanks to the many generous and supportive members of not only the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but also from all over the country.

PSP STRONG leaders note the organization is clearly proud and supportive of the PSP.  The generosity and support of the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and elsewhere are what have led to the success of this charitable venture and to the benefit of state police families.
