dogsunglassesWEST CHESTER — The American Cancer Society will hold its 8th annual Central Chester County Bark For Life event on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at East Goshen Park. The fundraising event honors the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers to cancer survivors. Families and their dogs come together for a few hours of celebration and companionship and complete a one-mile fun walk along a preplanned route through the beautiful East Goshen Park. Registration begins at 11:00 AM and the walk and festivities kick-off at 11:30 AM. There will be doggie games, costume contests, pet related and non-pet related vendors, rescues, music, raffles, demonstrations, children’s activities and food. Before the event, participants raise funds by asking family and friends to support their efforts.

“The Bark For Life event is an opportunity for people to celebrate the companionship and bonds they have with their dogs and at the same time fight back against cancer,” said Heather Graham, Volunteer Chairperson for the Bark for Life of Central Chester County. “The event gives us a chance to honor survivors and remember loved ones we have lost, whether they are family, friends or pets.”

“I am truly honored to have been asked to take part in Bark for Life,” said Honorary Survivor Speaker Christopher Lewis, a college freshman who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of two. “I hope that my story will give hope and inspire those who need it”

The event is part of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Central Chester County. Funds raised through the events help the American Cancer Society save lives by funding groundbreaking research, supporting education efforts, and providing free information and critical services for cancer patients.
