KENNETT SQUARE — Bowen duPhily, a two-sport senior at Kennett High School, has committed to play baseball for McGill University in Montreal, Canada, beginning August 2017.

duPhily is one of just four incoming freshmen for the McGill Redmen, who play in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association (CCBA). McGill compiled a 31-11 overall record (15-1 in conference) in 2017 en route to their third consecutive CCBA national championship. Over the past three seasons, the Redmen are 75-26-1 overall and 41-11 in conference.

Academically, McGill is annually ranked among the top 25 universities in the world and is often referred to as “the Harvard of the North.”

“We first saw Bowen play two summers ago at the Headfirst Honor Roll Showcase in Long, Island, N.Y., and have maintained a great relationship ever since,” said Casey Auerbach, Associated Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Redmen. “We like his character, demeanor and the way he carries himself on and off the field. His versatility and athleticism will be an asset for us as we work to defend our national title.”

duPhily is a three-year starting varsity infielder for the Kennett High Blue Demons. Last summer, he played shortstop for the PA Playmakers travel baseball program based in West Chester, Pa.

duPhily also was a captain and starting forward for the 2016-17 Kennett High basketball team. He finished among the ChesMont League’s top three-point shooters, sinking 53 on the season. He plans to major in political science and business at McGill.
