Cpl. Jason Ward

NEW GARDEN — The Southern Chester County Police Department announced the promotion of one of its patrolmen, Jason Ward, to Corporal, Monday.

Ward will be formally promoted at a ceremony during the regular meeting of the Southern Chester County Regional Public Safety Commission on Thursday, August 10, at 7:30 pm. As a respectful gesture to the origins of Cpl. Ward’s law enforcement career, the ceremony will take place at the West Grove Borough Council Meeting Room.

Ward has 18 plus years of public safety experience, beginning his law enforcement career in August of 1998 when he accepted a position with the former West Grove Borough Police Department.

Upon the formation of the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, then-Patrolman First Class Ward was assigned to A-Platoon serving as a first responder for the regional department. Ward was tasked with supervisory responsibilities during the absence of the A-Platoon Supervisor. On June 26, 2017, Ward’s promotion to the rank of Corporal became permanent; he is assigned as the A-Platoon Supervisor.

Cpl. Ward has received several law enforcement trainings, including being a “PhaZZer” Instructor, Field Training Officer, certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and certified operator of the Breath Testing Device.

A very interesting fact about Cpl. Ward is that while in college, he ‘majored’ in the Russian Language.
