Kennett to compete in Coatesville band cavalcade

The Kennett High School Marching Band will perform Saturday at a Cavalcade of Bands competition in Coatesville.

Drum roll, please: The Marching Red Raiders of Coatesville and the Coatesville Parents’ Music Club, Inc. will present their 22nd Annual Cavalcade of Bands Showcase “Steel City -Battle of the Bands” on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m., and Kennett High will be one of the competitors.

The showdown among talented area high-school ensembles will be held in the Coatesville Memorial Stadium, 1425-45 East Lincoln Highway.  The national anthem will be sung at 4:15 p.m., followed by performances from 17 marching bands, an exhibition at 9:15 p.m. by the Coatesville Marching Red Raiders  and an awards ceremony.

In addition to Kennett,   bands from the following high school – Ephrata, Haverford, Penn Wood, Phoenixville, Sun Valley, Milton Hershey, Rustin, Cheltenham, Marple Newtown, Mt. Pleasant, Pottsgrove, Souderton, Avon Grove, Boyertown, Cocalico and Downingtown West – will vie for top honors.

Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $10 for adults, and $8 for students and senior citizens. Parking is free, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Show times are subject to change, and the event will be held rain or shine.  For more information visit www.cvillepmc.org.
