Kennett Twp. Police warn of overnight business thefts

Commercial-grade products reportedly stolen in Sam’s Lane, Scarlett Rd. areas

Image 2The Kennett Township Police Department is investigating several thefts of commercial-grade products, which have apparently occurred overnight in recent weeks, from businesses in the Sam’s Lane and Scarlett Road areas of the township, township police said. Kennett Township Police Chief Albert J. McCarthy said the department is investigating an incident that involved an arrest of a subject for the use inhalants, and he wants to warn residents about the serious health risks associated with inhaling of common household items. Kennett Square officers arrested Hector Santana-Peguero, 35, of Newark, De., following a traffic stop on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 9:22 p.m. in the 100 block of South Broad Street, police said.  Santana-Peguero, who had a warrant from Delaware, was video-arraigned and released to constables for transport to Chester County Prison, police said.

Daniel Gaona-Renteri, 29, of Kennett Square, was cited for public drunkenness on Monday, Jan. 20, at 1:01 a.m. in the 300 block of East Maple Alley, borough police said, adding that Gaona-Renteria was released at his residence.

Kennett Square Police arrested Manuel Lopez, 23, of Toughkenamon, for attempting to elude police following a brief vehicle pursuit and foot pursuit on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 8:52 a.m. that began at West Cypress and Meredith Streets, police said.  Police also arrested Angel Cruz, 53, of Toughkenamon, for false reports to law enforcement after he reported that the vehicle Lopez was driving was stolen, police said.

Matthew Jeavons, 26, of Landenberg, was cited for criminal trespass for an incident that occurred on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1:51 a.m. in the 300 block of South Broad Street, Kennett Square Police said.  Jeavons was released at a friend’s residence, police said.

Kennett Square Police cited a 15-year-old male from Kennett Square for public drunkenness on Monday, Jan. 27, at 9:45 a.m. in the 100 block of East South Street, police said.  The teen was released to a parent, police said.

Edwin Perez-Lima, 26, of Kennett Square, was arrested for driving under the influence after two traffic accidents, one at West Cypress and Meredith Streets and one at East Cypress and Race Streets on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 6:23 p.m., police said. Perez-Lima was released at his residence pending a summons from district court, police said.

A traffic stop in the 600 block of East Cypress Street on Friday, Jan. 31, at 1:24 a.m. led to an arrest, borough police said.  Vincent Falco, 20, of Avondale, was cited for marijuana possession and released to a friend pending a summons from district court, police said.

Kennett Square Police arrested Dagmar Dunn, 47, of Wilmington, De., for driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Union Street on Monday, Feb. 3, at  12:04 a.m., police said. Dunn was released to a friend pending a summons from district court, police said.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, a resident of the 200 block of Ridge Avenue reported that on Monday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m., a call from a subject who stated the resident had won several prizes from Publishers Clearing House instructed the resident to get a GreenDot money card for $500 from Wal-Mart to cover the award’s legal costs and pass along the access code to the company, said police, who advised the resident that this is a common scam.

Kennett Square Police said an investigation is continuing regarding a report of criminal mischief that occurred sometime between Friday, Jan. 10, and Friday, Jan. 31, when several tires on vehicles parked in a lot in the 100 block of South Walnut Street were punctured.

Borough police arrested a 16-year-old male and Hernan Camacho-Lopez, 19, both of Kennett Square, for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. in the 500 block of Center Street, police said.  Camacho-Lopez was released pending a summons from district court; the teen, who was released to a parent, will be referred to juvenile probation, police said.

Sometime between Thursday, Jan. 23, and Monday, Feb. 3, a white dinghy with black fabric trim was stolen from a lot located in the 300 block of West Cedar Street, Kennett Square Police said, adding that an investigation is continuing.

Kennett Square Police said they cited Feliciano Rosales-Cruz, 32, of Kennett Square, for public drunkenness on Friday, Feb. 7, at 6:22 p.m. at Birch and South Walnut Streets.  Rosales-Cruz was released at his residence, police said.

Coatesville CpI. Jonathan Shave responded to the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 5:02 a.m. for a report of a male banging on doors, police said. Upon arrival, Shave took Eric Maucher, 25, of Landenberg, into custody for public drunkenness, Coatesville Police said.
