Former Kennett Square officer to assume post with county detectives

A former West Whiteland Township detective will join the Chester County Detectives in a newly created position in the child-abuse unit, District Attorney Tom Hogan announced in a news release.
Hogan said Kristin Lund would be sworn in by Chester County Court Judge Patrick Carmody at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3, in Courtroom 10.
“Kristin Lund is another outstanding addition to the Chester County Detectives. Detective Lund has extensive experience working child-abuse investigations, murder cases, drug operations, and other major investigations,” said Hogan. “In addition, she is known throughout Chester County law enforcement as intelligent, hard-working, and of the highest integrity. Det. Lund is another home-grown talent, trained by great Chester County police departments, who now joins the Chester County Detectives in protecting all of Chester County.”
Lund grew up in a law-enforcement family, the release said. Her father was a federal law enforcement officer and two of her brothers have served in law-enforcement roles. Prior to joining the Chester County Detectives, Lund spent 15 years with the West Whiteland Township Police Department, where she worked major cases as a detective, was named Officer of the Year, and received numerous other awards.
Lund, whose new position was approved by the Chester County Commissioners, began her career working for the Parkesburg Police Department and the Kennett Square Police Department. She received her undergraduate degree in criminal justice from West Chester University, the release said. She is the first female detective hired by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office in 33 years, the release said.
“Det. Lund is a very thorough and capable criminal investigator. As an integral part of our criminal unit, she performed her duties with the utmost professionalism,” said West Whiteland Township Police Chief Joseph Catov. “The citizens of West Whiteland Township were very fortunate to have an investigator of her caliber serving the community. She will be greatly missed.”
