On Wednesday, March 5, at 1:17 a.m., New Garden Township officers responded to the 100 block of Landenberg Road for the report of a physical domestic, police said.  Upon arrival, a witness said Manuel Arevalo-Morales, 21, of Landenberg, had broken a window to gain access to an apartment and left with the female victim, police said. The victim was allegedly grabbed around the neck and had her legs hanging out of the open door of the vehicle, which Arevalo-Morales drove at a high rate of speed before later returning to the residence, police said.

Arevalo-Morales was located and taken into custody without incident, arraigned on charges of simple assault and related offenses, and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $7,500 bail, police said.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 21, court records said.

New Garden Police said they were called to the 300 block of Scarlett Road on Friday, March 7, at 1:27 p.m. for a subject who had reportedly been involved in a theft in the parking lot of a business there on Feb. 17. Police said they made contact with Gary Atwood, 51 of Toughkenamon, who admitted taking the chrome center cap from the victim’s vehicle, which then didn’t fit Atwood’s vehicle. Atwood was taken into custody without incident, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, said police, adding that the cap was recovered and will be returned to the victim.

A traffic stop was conducted in the 9100 block of Gap Newport Pike, and the driver, Raul Flores-Flores, 51 of Newark, De., showed signs of intoxication, police said. After failing field sobriety tests, Flores-Flores was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.
