Kennett Square Police: Driver under influence of controlled substance

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAKennett Square officers arrested Fermin Gomez-Castillo, 18, of Wilmington, De., following a traffic stop on Tuesday, March 4, at 12:35 a.m. in the 400 block of West State Street, police said. Gomez-Castillo was released to a relative pending a summons from district court on charges that include driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Kennett Square Police arrested Maurice Reyes, 40, of Kennett Square, for aggravated assault, simple assault (two counts), recklessly endangering another person, and disorderly conduct (two counts) for an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 8, at 3:20 a.m. in the 100 block of North Walnut Street, police said.  Reyes was video-arraigned by the on-call district court, and bail was set at $50,000 cash.  Unable to post it, Reyes was released to constables for transport to Chester County Prison, police said.

Kennett Square officers took Alando Joseph, 49, of Kennett Square, into custody on a Delaware County warrant on Tuesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. in the 100 block of North Broad Street, police said. Joseph, also known as Joseph Orlando, was released to Delaware County deputy sheriffs.

On Tuesday, March 4, at 9:56 p.m. in the 400 block of East South Street, Kennett Square Police said they cited Charles Cornelius, 53, of Kennett Square, for public drunkenness.  Cornelius was released at his residence, police said.

Rufino Victorino, 39, of Kennett Square, was arrested for two counts of simple assault, one count of recklessly endangering another person and three counts of harassment for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 5, at 9:15 p.m. in the 100 block of North Willow Street, police said.  Victorino was arraigned by Kennett District Court and released on $3,000 unsecured bail, police said.

Kennett Square Police said they are investigating the report of $40 cash stolen from a woman’s purse at a residence located in the 800 block of Hornblende Avenue while workmen were inside on Friday, March 7, between 8:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Kennett Square Police said they detained Grant Maxwell, 44, of Kennett Square, for an outstanding warrant on Saturday, March 8, at 1:56 a.m. following a traffic stop at North Walnut and East State Streets.  Maxwell was released to state troopers, police said.
