Image 2A 9-1-1 call for suspicious activity led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Kennett Square resident for burglary and related offenses on Wednesday, April 9, Kennett Township Police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Elizabeth Drive at 3:30 p.m., a Kennett Township news release said. While investigating the suspicious incident, officers observed a man identified as Robert Timothy Pfeifle on the second-floor deck of a private residence smashing the glass of the rear patio door with a brick, which allowed him to gain access to the home, the release said.

Pfeifle was taken into custody and charged with felony burglary, criminal trespass, and related crimes. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel J. Maisano and committed to Chester County Prison after failing to post $25,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, court records said.

The release said investigators believe Pfeifle acted alone in the commission of the crimes.   Kennett Square Borough Police and the Kennett Square Fire Department assisted the Kennett Township Police Department, the release said.

Court records show that Pfeifle had interacted with law-enforcement earlier the same day. Kennett Square Police Chief Edward A. Zunino said his department took custody of Pfeifle  late Tuesday, April 8, from state police, who had detained Pfeifle for a criminal-mischief complaint.

Zunino said his department had received information that Pfeifle might be in possession of a stolen .38 caliber revolver; as a result, a search warrant was obtained the following morning, and police found the weapon. That discovery led to charges of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and receiving stolen property, Zunino said.

Court records show that Pfeifle had convictions in Montgomery County for drug offenses. Pfeifle was arraigned on the Kennett Square Police Department charges and released on $10,000 unsecured bail on Wednesday, April 9, court records said. Hours later, Pfeifle was back in custody after allegedly smashing the glass door of the Kennett Township residence , records said.
