KING OF PRUSSIA – Weather permitting, two overnight travel restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 202 in Chester County for improvements at the Rt. 29 and Rt. 401 interchanges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said on Friday, April 18.

From 8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, to 5 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced to one lane approaching the Rt. 29/Great Valley interchange.  The southbound right lane will be closed while crews move traffic onto new concrete pavement at the Rt. 29/Great Valley off-ramp, a PennDOT news release said.

From 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, to 5 a.m. Friday, April 25, the Rt. 401 on-ramp to southbound U.S. 202 will be closed and detoured for the installation of a new drainage pipe. A posted detour will take motorists north on U.S. 202 to the Rt. 29 North/Matthews Road exit, then right on Matthews Road, right on Rt. 29 (Morehall Road) and right on Swedesford Road to the ramp to U.S. 202 South, the release said.

Construction at the Rt. 29 interchange is part of PennDOT’s $105.4 million project to expand four miles of U.S. 202 to six lanes from north of the Rt. 401 interchange to the Rt. 252/Swedesford Road interchange. Construction began in April 2011 and is scheduled to finish this fall, the release said.

The work at the Rt. 401 Interchange is part of PennDOT’s $63.3 million project to widen 2.5 miles of U.S. 202 to six lanes between the Rt. 401 and Rt. 30 interchanges. The project, which began construction in April 2013, is scheduled for completion in May 2016, the release said.
