Troopers also gearing up for traffic monitoring over holiday weekend
Pennsylvania State Police from the Avondale barracks will be conducting free child safety seat checks on Tuesday, May 27, between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Avondale Fire Company, a state police news release said.
This event is being run in conjunction with the Click it or Ticket campaign and requires an appointment. Contact Trooper Samantha Minnucci at 610-268-2102 to get on the schedule. Troopers certified as child safety seat technicians will assist parents and caregivers with the installation or check to make sure the seat was installed properly.
In addition, troopers will provide information on best practices and common misuse issues, the release said. The Avondale Fire Company is located at 23 Firehouse Way in Avondale.
During the upcoming weekend, troopers from the barracks will be closely monitoring the highways since Memorial Day, a heavily traveled highway, consistently generates a high incidence of serious injuries and fatal crashes during the heavily traveled holiday. Troopers will focus on serious traffic violations, such as driving under the influence and aggressive driving, utilizing roving DUI patrols and speed enforcement details, the release said.
The Pennsylvania State Police are reminding motorists to drive defensively, not aggressively; to make sure everyone in the vehicle is buckled; to avoid driving after drinking alcohol; to allow extra time to get to your destination; and to avoid texting while driving, which is illegal in Pennsylvania.
