State police say she was stopped for traffic offense on May 23

IMG_0309A 19-year-old Kennett Square woman was arrested for driving under the influence on Friday, May 23, at 10:33 p.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks. Police said Alexandria Marie Tavoni was stopped for a traffic offense, found to be intoxicated, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.

Thomas Buchanan Payne, 65, of Kennett Square, was charged with harassment following a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Hillendale Road on Monday, May 19, at 9:20 p.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks.

A 25-year-old West Chester man was arrested for driving under the influence on Sunday, May 25, at 1:49 a.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks. Police said Kevin Richard Love was stopped for a traffic offense on Baltimore Pike, east of Rt. 52 in Kennett Township, and released after being processed, police said.

Sandra C. Bernal, 26, of Avondale, was cited for leaving the roadway after she struck a street sign and utility pole with her 2008 Chevrolet Malibu while traveling west on Hillendale Road, west of Creek Road in Kennett Township, on Saturday, May 24, at 4:05 a.m., said state police.

John E. Scott, 69, of Kennett Square, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed after he attempted to go under a 9-foot-6-inch overpass in a 2007 GMC TC5C, colliding with the top of the overpass on East Hillendale Road in Kennett Township, state police said. According to police, Scott had been traveling north on Friday, May 23, at 3:36 p.m. when the crash occurred.

State police from the Avondale barracks said they responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Scarlet Road and West South Street in New Garden Township on Saturday, May 24, at 5:40 p.m. A 2006 Ford F150 operated by Eva Lopez-Ortiz, 48, of Kennett Square, made a left turn onto South without yielding the right-of-way to an oncoming 2006 Pontiac G6, police said. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts, no injuries were reported, and no towing was needed, police said. Lopez-Ortiz was cited for making the turn, state police said.
