KENNETT — Two Chihuahua mix dogs understand Orphan Annie’s quest to find her ‘forever home.’
Up until now, it’s been a ‘hard knock life’ for them. But….there’s always tomorrow!
Big Mac and Whopper were rescued from their former owners that was hoarding the dogs for breeding. The Delaware Humane Society has sheltered them for several months and are seeking suitable homes for the small breed, senior dogs who deserve the affection, love and life of a ‘pampered pet.’
In a unique partnership with the Brandywiners’ theatre group that performed their summer show ‘Annie’ at Longwood Garden’s Open Air theatre, the dogs, embraced by costumed actresses, debuted on the stage during one of the opening production numbers.
They were joined by the four legged actor, Toby, who played the part of Sandy, Orphan Annie’s adopted pet. Toby was rescued nine years ago and has lived a ‘star’s life’ ever since.
If you think that you could make room in your heart and home to make Big Mac or Whopper’s ‘dream come true’ or to visit the other adoptable pets at the Delaware Humane Society, contact them at 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE. Dehumane.org or call 302 571-0111.
