West Grove names King interim police chief

Retired State Trooper had been part-time New Garden officer

WestGroveWEST GROVE — Following a brief search process, the Mayor and Borough Council announced that Michael P. King would be named interim Police Chief.  King will be sworn in on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 pm in the Borough Municipal Building.

King is an experienced Southern Chester County law enforcement official; he comes to the borough with a large amount of law enforcement experience.  he retired from the Pennsylvania State Police in April of 2013 after 25 years of service; additionally, he is currently working as a part-time police officer with the New Garden Township Police Department. 

Borough officials cited his “enthusiastic embracing of community policing philosophies that make him a good fit for the Borough of West Grove,” according to a statement issued by the township Monday. “We are excited about this change in direction for our police department; the Mayor and Council believe that our residents will be pleased with our selection.  Chief King will begin administrative duties immediately; uniformed duties will commence sometime in December.”

King replaces Chief Errol Galloway who retired in September of 2014 after 26 plus years as police chief.
