For our furry friendsChester County SPCA’s Henry’s Cupboard was recently launched. Named in honor and memory of Senator Andy Dinniman’s beloved poodle, Henry, the goal of this program is to provide free food assistance to pet owners living below the poverty level. Owning the ‘block’Avon Grove High’s Olivia Paoletti is a triple qualifier for the PIAA – AAA State Swimming & Diving Championships….recently winning gold in both the 400 breast stroke and IMs at Districts making her AGHS’ FIRST female swimming district champion…and the TRIFECTA: Unionville High’s Girls Swim Team won the Ches-Mont League American Division for the third year in a row, finishing their season 8-1. The team was led by Laura Barthold, Lauren Stabler, Lindsey Hewton and Maura GrimesGoodStuff

‘Secret’ Service…Kennett youth coach, Jill Hunt, and members of KHS girls and boys lacrosse teams were spotted donating indoor lacrosse gear and giving lax pointers to the Garage Youth & Community Center and its fans.  Gear was ‘gifted’ by friends in honor of anonymous Kennett-area volunteer’s & Garage advocate’s milestone birthday…

Rockin’ some ‘heavy metal’…Great Valley’s 4×800 girls relay team of Elise Claffey, Anna Willig, Tabitha Wismer and Crosby Spiess bring home G-O-L-D with a time of 9:22.52 at Sunday’s PTFCA State Indoor Track and Field Championships at Penn State University. For the guys, Downingtown West’s 4×200 relay team of Ian Alleyne, Nate Alleyne, Matt McCool and Josh McLemore earned the silver medal with a time of 1:29.34…

He’s got HEARTPierce Middle School’s John Kosic was recently honored for 30 years of fundraising for the American Heart Association raising more than $34,000 along the way.  Thanks to John’s commitment, Pierce has been hosting Volleyball for Heart since 1985

Dodging the ballOxford Area High’s Future Business Leaders of America sponsored its 5th annual Dodgeball Tournament benefiting the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation. The winning squad was the Moondogs: Joey Boggs (captain), Cole Moran, Ryan Hubley, Zach Deasey, Josh Mosely, Nick Salvadore, Nolan Benke and Tyler Farr. This year’s tournament had the highest number of participating teams and raised the largest amount of money for the Eli Foundation..special thanks Walgreen’s – Oxford, for its generous donation of bottled water for all the participants…

Face-Off…Avon Grove Ice Hockey Club prevailed 6-1 over Kennett Friday night, and advances to the DSHA Varsity Division Championship against the Delaware Military Academy. The Championship was cancelled Sunday night due to weather conditions and has yet to be rescheduled…
