Community comes together to support academic success

KENNETT – It was a night designed to celebrate and support the Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD) as the Kennett Education Foundation (KEF) celebrated its annual spring dinner’s 10th anniversary.
The party was most definitely on Friday night, as nearly two hundred and fifty supporters packed the Mendenhall Inn’s atrium and ballroom; sharing a mission of serious fundraising to enhance and support the academic success of students within KCSD.
Administration, teachers, parents and alumni enjoyed an evening featuring silent and live auctions, including a very special ½ carat diamond necklace and 49 gemstone raffle compliments of Bove Jewelers.
Guests participated in some ‘fierce’ friendly competition during live bidding on several popular auction items: two phases orthodontic treatment valued at $4,700+ thanks to the generous support of Cari Orthodontics, four behind the scenes experience passes to Good Morning America; and an opportunity to ‘name your own’ KEF scholarship.
Thanks to the sounds of Philadelphia-based band, Big Ric Rising, the dance floor was never found empty; and for a bit of fun, The Times is pleased to share a few photos of some of the ‘moves’ we spotted during the evening’s festivities.
By all accounts, Friday’s dinner is counted as a success with KEF raising more than $41,000; all of which will be directly invested in the students and educators of KCSD via grants, scholarships and endowments.
Founded in 2001, the foundation has experienced tremendous growth and support from the community. 14 years ago KEF awarded its very first scholarship of $500; in 2014, more than $24,000 in scholarships were awarded to the KHS graduating class.
In addition to its annual spring dinner, KEF hosts the very popular Monster Mash Dash 5k each fall as a part of its fundraising efforts.
The KEF Board of Directors would like to offer a special thank you to its many sponsors and individual supporters who continue to offer very generous and dynamic backing to its mission. To donate, get involved and learn more about KEF, please visit www.kennetteducationfoundation.org
