The Chester County SPCA is inviting the community to join them and celebrate the 28th Annual Walk for Paws event on Sunday, April 26 at Hibernia Park in Coatesville.
A 5k Run has been added to this year’s Walk for Paws event, which will also include the traditional mile-long walk and family-friendly outdoor festival. Each year, hundreds of people and their canine companions come out for a day full of walking the mile-long course, face-painting, music, food, photos at the “Pooch Smooch” booth, pet contests, a Police K-9 demonstration, and more.
The Walk for Paws is one of the few annual fundraisers hosted by the Chester County SPCA and it provides vital financial support to the shelter. The proceeds from this event go directly toward helping to provide shelter, food, medical care, and the chance to find forever homes to the thousands of homeless animals that pass through the Chester County SPCA each year. Adoptable animals from the shelter will also be present for the event at Hibernia Park.
People can register for the Walk for Paws at www.ccspca.org/walk/ as an individual or team and help raise money for animals in need by collecting pledges from their family, friends, and co-workers. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers and race winners.
Participants can also register in person on the day of the event. Registration for the 5k run opens at 7am and the race begins at 8am; and registration for the mile-long walk and festival opens at 9am and walkers take off at 10am. The 2015 Walk for Paws will close at 1pm.
