WEST CHESTER — Chester County officials gathered Thursday morning to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the Old Glory statue — erected to honor the county’s Civll War veterans in 1915.
While this week’s event was a more restrained event, a century ago, an estimated 35,000 people gathered for parades, speeches and other festivities to mark the unveiling of the statue near the county’s iconic courthouse.
County officials, including Judge Jacqueline Cody, the president judge of the Court of Common Pleas, as well as county commissioners Terence Farrell, Kathi Cozzone and Michelle Kichline led the ceremony marking the centennial of the statue.
