OXFORD — Just a glance at the parking lot on a Monday morning, was evidence that residents are clearly making good use of the newly expanded Oxford Public Library. The Drennen family, owners of Oxford Feed & Lumber, stopped by to present a donation to assist with the expenses of the 4,000 sq. ft. addition. Now, approximately 11,000 sq. ft., the building will serve the community – young, old and in between – for many years to come.
The Drennens, father Larry Sr. and sons Larry Jr. and Chris, say they feel the library is a vital part of the community in Oxford, important not only for its collection of over 50,000 volumes, but also for the variety of programs and cultural events they offer.
“This was very generous of the Drennens,” says library director Carey Bresler. “When we finally got the expansion started they really wanted to see it happen. Like many in the community, they helped move the library forward.”
Oxford Feed & Lumber also provided a substantial amount of the materials for the project to Nowland Builders who did the construction.
“Jeff Nowland came to us early in the project and we were glad he did include us in the supply process,” said Chris and Larry Drennen
“We were happy to provide a lot of materials for this project right in our hometown and to be able to make a donation to a cornerstone of the community,” said the Drennen family.
