LaneclosedTravel restrictions are scheduled next week on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at the Route 202 Interchange in East Whiteland, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The road and bridge work is associated with improvements being made under two construction contracts totaling more than $168 million to improve travel and safety on U.S. 202.

Periodic flagger controlled lane closures and stoppages will occur on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at the Route 202 Interchange on Monday, October 5, through Friday, October 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and on Saturday, October 10, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for roadway reconstruction.

In addition, Planebrook Road will be restricted to a flagger-controlled single lane at the U.S. 202 overpass in East Whiteland Township on Monday, October 5, through Friday, October 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Saturday, October 10, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for overhead bridge construction. Periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes may occur weeknights from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM and on Saturday from 12:00 AM (midnight) to 10:00 AM.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel and use extra care when driving through the construction zone because backups may occur.

The widening of U.S. 202 from north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Swedesford Road/Route 252 Interchange, which was substantially completed last fall, is being performed by the Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J., under a $105.4 million contract.

Construction on U.S. 202 from north of Route 401 to U.S. 30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, is being done by Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County. The $63.3 million contract is scheduled to finish in 2016.
