Uptown! Entertainment Alliance (UEA) has announced new members to its Board of Directors. At the December monthly meeting, the following community leaders were unanimously voted onto the Board; Sue Lapin, Kane Bender, Don Scholl, William Winters, Chris Lang and Chris Howe.
Uptown! Entertainment Alliance was established in 2010 with the goal of Bringing a Theatre to Downtown West Chester, thus creating a cultural hub for individuals and families within walking distance from the borough’s lively restaurant, pub and shopping district. UEA has an agreement from the State of Pennsylvania to purchase the Armory and zoning approval from borough council. Following the purchase of the Armory UEA plans to open the theater in 2016. Uptown has hired Homsey Architects to design the performance hall, Bancroft Construction to manage the project and Clair Solutions to design the stage and screen lighting and audio systems.
Once the renovation is complete, the (still un-named) Armory Theatre will serve as a permanent presence for our community to enjoy the performing arts for generations to come. Many older West Chester citizens fondly recall the old Warner Theatre on High Street. Now, we all have the unique opportunity to help bring a theatre back to West Chester. No donation is too small.
