CALN — The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced Friday the appointment of Carla Sivek as the new director of the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Sivek will oversee delivery of health care to approximately 20,000 Veterans with an operating budget of about $200 million.

“We are excited that Ms. Sivek has been selected as the new director of the Coatesville VA Medical Center,” said Dr. Michael Adelman, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 4 director. “Her experience in leadership, social work, and planning at the VISN level and at other facilities in the network will be valuable assets for the facility, the employees and volunteers, and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve. Her permanent appointment will begin on Nov. 27.”

With more than 1,200 employees, and facilities in Coatesville as well as Spring City and Springfield, Coatesville VA Medical Center operates 396 inpatient beds and conducted 232,368 outpatient visits last year.

Sivek has been serving as the interim director at the Coatesville VA since the retirement of Gary Devansky in May.

Sivek had begun serving as the VISN 4 Deputy Network Director in July 2009, and served during interim periods as the VISN 4 Network Director, Erie VAMC Director, and James E. Van Zandt VAMC Director. She previously served in a variety of roles at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System including social worker, business manager for the patient care service line, facility planner, and assistant to the director.
