KENNETT SQUARE — Dr. Federico Ceppa, MD, who joined La Comunidad Hispana (LCH) as a physician in October 2015, was recently appointed to Director of Primary Care.

Dr. Ceppa lives out LCH’s mission of helping low-income families to stay healthy, build strong families, and lead productive lives. Ceppa not only sees patients in-house at LCH’s Kennett Square location, but he volunteers his time to travel with an outreach team to provide wellness checks for the employees of local mushroom farms and businesses who may not have the time to go to LCH for an appointment.

“There are so many barriers to quality health care,” said Ceppa. “With the fate of health coverage uncertain at this time, it’s especially rewarding to be working in a Federally Qualified Health Center which is committed to ensuring that essential health care is available to all.”

In his new role as Director of Primary Care, he will oversee six providers who are supported by nearly twenty support staff of Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, and Patient Advocates.  LCH serves nearly 6,000 members each year through its integrated health center, social assistance services, education classes, behavioral health services, and dental center.

In addition to his family medicine experience, Ceppa’s ten years of experience as a surgeon allow him to provide surgical care to LCH patients with minor wounds and lesions. A native of Argentina, Ceppa can communicate with both English and Spanish speaking patients that come to LCH for care. “Dr. Ceppa’s diverse experience and multicultural background are true assets to LCH”, commented LCH President and CEO Alisa Jones. “He embodies the high quality, culturally welcoming care that LCH strives to provide in both our Kennett Square and Oxford locations.”

Ceppa attended Kenyon College in Ohio, and completed his medical training at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He then completed residency in Surgery at St. Agnes Healthcare. After a decade of practicing surgery, Dr. Ceppa transitioned to family medicine through the Lifeguard Program with the PA Medical Society. He lives in Chester County with his wife and two children.
