Free tax preparation help

It’s tax season again — but you don’t have to spend valuable time figuring out how to prepare them on your own.

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program is here to help by offering free, confidential services to assist in  preparing your Federal, State and Local tax returns. All tax preparers are volunteers who received extensive training and have successfully passed an IRS certification test.

Although originally developed to assist low to moderate income seniors, the program welcomes all age and income levels.

Federal and state returns are prepared and electronically filed at no charge; however, taxpayers with “complex” returns will be advised to seek professional tax assistance.

The Kennett Area Senior Center is the local AARP Tax-Aide site. Tax-Aide volunteers are available by appointment, most Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am-2:30pm, February 3 through April 15 by calling 610-444-4819.

Other centers are located in Oxford, Downingtown, Coatesville and West Chester. Their hours of operation can be found at www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide.
