WEST CHESTER—It has to happen at some point in the season, there always seems to be that one game that sticks with you long after the year comes to a close and the skates are put away for the summer.

Monday night’s battle with Ches-Mont foe Great Valley may be just such a game for the Blue Demons.

Kennett (3-10-2), who has not savored the sweet taste of victory since a 5-3 win over cross town rival Unionville back on November 21, 2011, were ravenous for win as they took to the frozen surface at Ice Line quad rinks against a Patriots squad that was still in search of it’s first victory of the season, some thing had to give.

In a game where there where 16 penalties issued including two fighting majors issued to Kennett’s Jack Moore and Great Valley forward Mike Meyers, it was the Pats that got on top early with a goal from Sanders Clark and two tallies off of the stick of Mike Rispoli (2 goals, 2 assists), who has posted 7 points in the six game he has played this season as Great Valley built a 3-0 lead before Moore lit the lamp with 11seconds left in the second period.

Great Valley continued to pressure net junior minder Nick Schubbeo (2-8-2, 5.09 GAA, .849 save percentage), who was again solid for the Blue Demons, going back on top by a three-goal margin as Clark recorded his second goal of the tilt.

Goaltender Nick Schuibbeo makes one of his 316 saves on the year.

Being out shot by a margin of 27-22,Kennett managed to record the only power play goal of the game when Jeff Tinkoff jammed home a feed from senior Emily Lessner along with a helper from Peter Stefanide late in the third period to draw to with two once again.

Despite a strong defensive effort, Great Valley was able to hold on for their first win of the season.

It should be noted that, while neither team will battling Methacton, who has run out to a 12-0-1 start, for the League lead any time soon, both squads battled for pride and refused to give an inch in a gritty Ches-Mont League American division battle.

Next up for the Blue Demons is a game with last years Flyers Cup final four qualifier Spring-Ford, who has a rough go of it thus far this season posting a record of (3-8-0) at Ice Line quad rinks on Monday, February 6 at 8:45 pm.
