Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone will formally announce Tuesday that she plans to run for Lt. Governor in 2018.
She plans a formal announcement on the steps of the Historic Courthouse in West Chester at 2 p.m.
Cozzone, a Democrat, will face incumbent — and embattled Lt. Gov. Mike Stack as well as Aryanna Berringer — a former Chester County resident who ran against U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts as Aryanna Strader, for the Democratic nomination. Stack, a former state Senator, has come under fire for alleged poor treatment of state employees — prompting Gov. Tom Wolf to remove Stack’s State Police protection detail.
The long-time County Commissioner — she was first elected to the board in 2007 — currently serves as Vice Chair of the board and has been active with various causes in the county. Prior to her time in public office, she worked in finance in the private sector. She and her husband Victor, live in Exton with their son Victor, Jr., a student at Downingtown East High School.
The primary election will be held May 15, 2018.
