NEW GARDEN — A customer at the Sunoco station on Route 41 on Wednesday fueled the anger of authorities when she allegedly forgot to do something important before pulling away after her fill-up: remove the nozzle from her vehicle.

New Garden Township police said they are trying to identify the older black female, approximately 5-foot-2 and 120 pounds, who damaged the station’s equipment when she drove from the station at 8955 Gap-Newport Pike about 11:50 a.m. with the gas pump still attached to her four-door, dark-blue Mercedes.

Police also reported today that a 25-year-old Coatesville woman was charged with assault, criminal mischief, and related charges for an alleged fracas on Tuesday. Officers said they were called to a facility in the 1300 block of Newark Road, where employees  said Laisha Burrage had become enraged when she was told she had to fill out paperwork to leave against medical advice, police said. Burrage allegedly threatened staff with a fire extinguisher, caused damage to the property, and resisted police efforts to take her into custody. She was arraigned at district court in Avondale and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $20,000 bail.

New Garden police are also investigating the theft of electrical cords with Hubbell connectors from the 100 block of Sunnydell Road.  Police said the cords, valued in excess of $1,700, were taken sometime between April 8 at 2:30 p.m. and April 9 at 8:30 a.m.
