Amber Bennett of Upper Chichester announced Monday that she will seek the Republican nomination for State Representative in the 160th District, seeking to replace retiring State Rep. Steve Barrar.
The 160th is split between the southern tier of Chester County, including Kennett, Kennett Square, Pennsbury, Pocopson, as well as Delaware County, with Chadds Ford, Concord, Bethel and parts of Upper Chichester.
She would be seeking to hold a seat that is likely to be hotly contested in 2020. Barrar held of Kennett Square attorney Anton Andrew by about 800 votes in 2018. Andrew defeated Catherine Spahr in a closely contested Democratic primary in 2018. Both are running again.
