Saturday is the Fourth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kennett Square police will accept unwanted, expired, and unused prescription drugs with no questions asked at the station, 115 N. Broad St. in Kennett Square. New Garden Police will be set up at the Giant supermarket, 350 Scarlett Rd. in the New Garden Shopping Center, and state police will dispose of medications at the Avondale barracks, 2 Moxley Lane, in London Grove Township.

During the last Take-Back Day in October, Americans turned in more than 188 tons of medication, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. It’s a response the agency would like to repeat on Saturday. “The amount of prescription drugs turned in by the American public during the past three Take-Back Day events speaks volumes about the need to develop a convenient way to rid homes of unwanted or expired prescription drugs,” said DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart in a news release. “DEA remains hard at work to establish just such a drug disposal process, and will continue to offer take-back opportunities until the proper regulations are in place.”
