PHILADELPHIA—Every April the very best in track and field make their way to historic Franklin Field to compete in one of the grandest stages in the world, the Penn Relays. Over the first two days of the country’s oldest and one of a kind relay carnival,  more than 54,000 track enthusiasts have packed the stands to cheer on favorites.

Olympic greats like Carl Lewis, Usain Bolt, Bruce Jenner, Lauryn Williams and many more have at one point or another competed on the hallowed ground that is the University of Pennsylvania’s home track along with area legends like comedian/actor Bill Cosby who was in attendance Friday and enjoying time in the infield with the middle schools kids from the area .

The Blue Demons 4 x 400 team finished tenth in their heat at the Penn Relays

On Thursday, the Blue Demons girl’s 4 x 400 meter relay team of Emma Starr, Lisa Finfrock, Devon Salison, and Stephanie Savage competed in the Ches-Mont heat, posting a tenth place finishing time 4:30.02.

Kennett High School’s boy’s battled an elite field in the 4 x 100 meter relay heats on Friday afternoon as the sun finally poke through the clouds on a day where the wind was a major factor swirling around the infield.

The group of Tyler Boyer, Maille Dietz, Max Colby and CJ.Lowe finished fourth in their heat with a time of 44.78 which was fast enough to finish 72nd overall out of more than 275 teams form all over the country including Jamaica and Ontario Canada.

On Saturday, the Blue Demons will hare the same infield with the very bets Olympic hopefuls in the world as the 4 x 400 Ches-Mont race will take place at 12:10 sandwiches between the USA versus the world Distance medley race and the USA vs. the world 4 x 100 men’s and women’s races.
