Community plans parade for UHS seniors, June 8

The greater Unionville community will be saluting the Unionville High School Class of 2020 with a parade around the district on Monday, June 8. The normal graduation ceremony had to be postponed due to COVID-19.

The parade will start at 4 pm with a procession to begin at each of the district’s elementary schools, proceeding to the High School campus in East Marlborough.

No community members will be permitted on school grounds — for public safety reasons — but the organizers are hoping to encourage community support/businesses within neighborhoods and parade routes. Everyone is asked to comply with CDC guidelines on social distancing/mask wearing.

Additionally, the district has been saluting UHS seniors with special lawn signs honoring them.

As with virtually all senior classes in the state, Unionville seniors missed out on all of the normal senior year spring activities from sports to the prom, and of course, the usual graduation ceremony at the University of Delaware.

More information, including the parade routes, will be put out in the coming days.
