Md. woman charged with 2010 theft
A two-year-old car theft was solved through DNA, New Garden Township police said.
Carla Johnson, 39, of Elkton, Md., was charged with theft and related offenses for her role in stealing a motor vehicle from the unit block of Colonial Farms Drive in January 2010, New Garden police said. DNA evidence collected from the recovered vehicle was a match for Johnson’s, who was in the system for a previous offense, police said.
New Garden Township police also reported that Michael Coy, 22 of Cochranville, and Charles Ellingsworth, 21, of Coatesville, were charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia following a May 15 traffic stop. Police said they observed a vehicle travelling erratically on Gap Newport Pike and almost striking the vehicle in front of it. When police made contact, they said they saw heroin on the floor in front of Ellingsworth, who had additional baggies in his possession. Coy possessed heroin and generic morphine pills for which he had no prescription, police said.
David Powers, 21 of Landenberg, was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and related offenses following a May 21 domestic dispute in the 1000 block of Broad Run Road, New Garden police said. Police said Powers assaulted and threatened to kill three victims. He was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail, police said.

Denzil Wagoner, 26, of Marcus Hook, was charged with burglary and related offenses from an incident that occurred in August 2010 in the unit block of Yeager Drive. Wagoner pawned some of the stolen items and later admitted to breaking into the house, police said.
Mark DiSabatino, 49, of Kennett Square, was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Wednesday on Onix Drive at Schoolhouse Road in East Marlborough Township at 8:13 a.m., state police said.
Jose Zavala-Zavala, 22, of Kennett Square, was arrested for alleged drunken-driving by Kennett Square police after he was stopped at West South and Lafayette Streets on May 13 at 12:14 a.m., police said.
Later that day, borough police said they cited Eugene Boddy, 36, and Michael Mahaffey, 38, both of Kennett Square, for criminal trespass and having an open container of alcohol on private property between South Broad and Walnut Streets at 2:21 p.m.
Kennett Square police are investigating a theft of an EZ-pass, a Sirius radio, and a makeup bag containing prescription medication that was reported stolen May 13 between 2 and 6:20 p.m. from an unlocked vehicle in the 800 block of Lafayette Street.
Jonathan Gomez-Rivera, 23, and Orlando Quinones, 28, both of Kennett Square, were charged with driving under the influence following an accident on May 15 at 11:11 p.m. in the 200 block of East South Street, police said.
Police said they are investigating a report that several tires on trailers parked in the 400 block of Birch Street were punctured overnight on May 18. Officers are also investigating the reported theft between May 16 and May 18 of a gun-cleaning kit from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Magnolia Street, police said.
