Girls HS golf: Unionville earns bid to State Finals

From Unionville High School Golf Coach Joe Sudimak: The District 1 Golf Championship is probably the most challenging High School Golf tournament in the state of Pennsylvania.

That being said, I want to share with the Unionville Golf family that we are extremely proud of our girls team and their accomplishments in this year’s tournament.
First,  we had 4 individual players qualify for the District 1 Individual Event which was held on Monday at the Raven’s Claw Golf Club.
Mary Dunigan shot (-2) and Kaitlyn Ferrer shot (+5) , making the cut to qualify for Day 2 of Districts.
The biggest moment at Raven’s Claw was when the Unionville Girls team realized they were a runner-up (2nd place finish) and would get an invite to the Pennsylvania State Team Finals.

Top Scorers for the Longhorns in the Team Event were Mary Dunigan (69) , Kaitlyn Ferrer (76) , and Claire Liu (84).
The team will wait for the invite next week from the PIAA commission to compete, once again, for a State Championship on Monday, October 25, at the Heritage Hills Resort in York , PA.
Day 2 of the District 1 Individual Event saw our own Mary Dunigan in the final pairing and on the leaderboard throughout the day.
Mary shot 2 under par at Turtle Creek to finish (-4) for the tournament,  giving her a second place finish in the overall event.
The Unionville Golf family wants to thank both Mary and Kaitlyn for representing us well in the District 1 Finals today at Turtle Creek.
We could not be more proud of our girls.
Go UHS Girls Golf!
The Champions return to the State Finals!
