Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. will present its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m.  The event takes place in Kerr Park at the Log House field below the Christmas Tree.

There will be holiday music provided at the concert gazebo, a face painter, small craft and games for the kids, along with cookies, hot chocolate and a S’more station.  Of course, the evening would not be complete without Santa arriving by firetruck to help light the Christmas Tree!

“Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. is proud to display our 20’ artificial lighted Giant Everest Christmas Tree with a 3’ lighted star on top.  The tree, which is professionally decorated, sits next to the Log House on Lancaster Avenue and at the entrance to Kerr Park, providing our community a beautiful sight for the holidays”, said Dianne Plaugher, co-Chair of Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas.

“Next up after the tree lighting is our Christmas Parade to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3pm.  We have outstanding bands, floats, walking and marching groups, and much more.  And of course the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus in a sleigh, said Plaugher”.

Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas partners with the Downingtown-Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce in presenting these two events. “The Chamber is honored to partner with Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas in presenting the tree lighting and parade again this year. These are wonderful community events and we look forward to continuing to bring them to the people of Downingtown for years to come”, said Patti McComsey, Chamber President.

If that’s not enough, Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas and the Chamber are hosting a “Business Storefront Decorating Contest” with cash prizes awarded for the best decorated storefronts.  Details and registration information at www.dtownchristmas.com.

“Fundraising is an important part of our Christmas celebration which would not be possible without support from our community.  “We are grateful to over 40 business and individuals who donated to our fundraising drive”, said Plaugher.
