Heartwood Park was officially opened as part of PXV Inside Out.
This past Friday evening saw the much-anticipated return of First Friday in Phoenixville. Taking place during the PXV Inside Out road closure, the event featured a wide variety of vendors in the Main and Bridge Street parking lot, along with musical acts scattered throughout downtown. Happening at the same time, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to mark the dedication of Heartwood Park. Located at the corner of Bridge Street and Church Alley, this small but beautiful park was revitalized through private donations, and features a pavilion and bench seating where guests can enjoy a respite from the hum of activity happening downtown.
Saturday featured a new event hosted by the Phoenixville Regional Chamber of Commerce, Rhythm & Brews. In addition to a pop-up beer garden highlighting a variety of local brews, there was live music and a cornhole tournament. The well-attended event will occur twice more this summer, July 16th and August 20th.
On Sunday, the Main and Bridge Street parking lot was again a focus of several activities. There were several different fitness classes hosted there, including cross fit hosted by Iron Cross Athletics, a yoga class taught by Nectar Yoga Studio, and the fun-for-all-ages Family Phys Ed. A little further down the street, members of the community joined together with the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County to paint the crosswalks at Bridge Street and Church Alley rainbow in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Dubbed ‘Pride Walk’, it is the first mural of its kind in Chester County, and is a vibrant addition to the fabric of Phoenixville’s downtown district.
