Local authorities are looking for two men related to a fatal shooting Friday night in Coatesville.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and City of Coatesville Police Department announced on Saturday morning a joint investigation into the fatal shooting Friday night in Coatesville.

According to authorities, at approximately 9:07 pm, June 10, Coatesville Police responded to a report of gunshots at 5th Street and Lincoln Hwy. At the scene, police found a 38-year- old male shot in the hip. The victim was immediately transported to Paoli Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He died shortly after.

Police said, eyewitnesses reported that two black males in hoodies approached the victim and his cousin and engaged in a verbal dispute. One of the men showed a gun and reportedly told the victim, “I’m strapped.” The argument continued, and the male with the gun fired two shots. The two men then ran off.

Police say they recovered two fired shell casings and one fired projectile at the scene. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area.

DA Deb Ryan said, “This is another senseless tragedy. If the public has any information about this incident, please contact the police immediately. Coatesville Police and Chester County Detectives are working around the clock to find these suspects and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Coatesville City Detective Bill Carter at 610-384-2300 or Chester County Detective Keith Cowdright at 610-344-6866.
