NEW GARDEN — The Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council announced that Kathleen (Kate) Rzucidlo of Landenberg, PA has earned her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Each girl must dedicate a minimum of 80 hours to planning and implementing her project, which must benefit the community and have long-lasting impact. She received her award at the first On My Honor ceremony held in Dover Delaware.
Kate is the daughter of Robert and Susan F. Rzucidlo and a member of Troop 15, which is led by Mrs. Janice Coe of Kennett. Kate worked with Kennett Consolidated School District Administration to develop a video introduction to the High School for new students.
This video tour, complete with teacher interviews, curriculum expectations, class options and extra curricular activities, shows the strengths of the Kennett educational programs as well as the welcoming and accepting attitude of the community of students and staff. Kate put in many hours creating the video tour, which can be used for years to come and help new students feel more at ease when entering the high school. This video will help new students learn about the great opportunities available so they can be involved in their school.
Kate will be entering East Stroudsburg University in the fall with the intention of earning a Health and Physical Education degree.
