Valentine helps Kennett down West Scranton Post 920 Legion, 7-4

Stephen Valentine had three RBIs, sparking Kennett Legion to a 7-4 victory in seven innings over West Scranton Legion Post 920 on Saturday.

He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Ryan Simonton recorded the win for Kennett Legion. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered seven hits.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as Kennett Legion scored three runs on two ground outs and a steal of home by Philip Matranga.  Philip Matranga helped the team again in the third by laying down the perfect bunt in a suicide squeeze that scored Chris Fulton.

West Scranton Legion Post 920 got one-run boosts in each of the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh. In the second, West Scranton Legion Post 920 scored on an RBI single by Mason Marsico, bringing home James Dunning.

Kennett Legion increased its lead with four runs in the third. A clutch bases-loaded walk scored Tyler Hall to open the scoring in the frame.

One run in the bottom of the sixth helped West Scranton Legion Post 920 close its deficit to 7-3. An RBI single by Collin Lipowitch fueled West Scranton Legion Post 920‘s comeback. Finally, Simonton got Carl Zenker to strike out to end the threat.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped West Scranton Legion Post 920 close its deficit to 7-4. An error set off a West Scranton Legion Post 920 rally. With bases loaded and two outs, the Colts brought in Kyle Fries. Kyle got Lipowitch to strike out to end the game.
