William B. Camp

William B. Camp, 82, went on to be with his Savior on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Wellspan Hospital, Chambersburg, PA, after a short illness, and with his son and daughter-in-law at his bedside. He had recently been residing at Shippensburg Health Care Center, 121 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg,

Bill was born on October 26, 1940 in Cortland, New York, to the late William E. and Clara L. (Boyce) Camp. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl (Reynolds) Camp in 2009. Survivors include his son, Peter W. Camp with his wife, Katherine L. (Rutherford) Camp, and their 5 children, Michael William, Madison Nichole, Christopher William, Rebecca Ann, and Sophia Ann Camp; and his 5 siblings, 3 sisters – Sally N. (Robert) Kamerling of Wilmington, NY Gretchen C. (George) Seirmarco of Ringwood, NJ, and Deborah M. (James) Wheeling of Chambersburg, PA., and 2 brothers – Andrew D. Camp of Cortland, NY and Stephen P. Camp of Fitzwilliam, NH. In addition there is a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, too numerous to be named in this article, but all harbor fond memories of their “Uncle Bill” with his wonderful sense of humor and love of family gatherings.

William was a graduate of Homer Central High School in Homer, NY, before briefly attending Houghton College in Houghton, NY. After this, he started a career in the meat production industry starting work with his father’s business, Camp Packing Company in Cortland, NY which eventually led to a range of opportunities for executive positions in food industry locations in the northeast United States, which culminated in roughly 20 years with Keystone Foods of West Chester, PA, the largest supplier of meat products for McDonalds restaurants. He finished his working career with Beiler-Campbell Realtors of Chester County, PA, specializing in commercial properties.

Visitation will be held on January 12, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21472. Funeral service and burial will take place in the spring of 2023 in Cortland Rural Cemetery, Cortland, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
