Local kids in need were able to pick out a new winter coat, thanks to a coat drive from LCH and Concordville Subaru/Nissan.
LCH Health and Community Services joined with Concordville Subaru and Nissan once again to distribute 300 brand new coats for children in the community.
Just in time for the first freeze of the season, LCH staff spent Thursday, November 2nd helping children from all over southern Chester County pick out a new coat in their favorite color. The annual event was held in the LCH West Grove health center, which is also the location of LCH Pediatrics.
“One way we can support the health and well-being of our young patients is to make sure they have access to a warm coat that fits well,” said LCH CEO Ronan W. Gannon. “Our friends at Concordville Subaru and Nissan do an amazing job of delivering brand new coats of every size from 2T to Adult XL in a variety of colors. The kids are proud to wear their nice new coats, and we are glad to know that their health is better protected through the winter months.”
Coats are donated by regional auto dealerships and distributed through many community partners in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester County. Over 50,000 coats are handed out to children in need each year. LCH encouraged their patient families and neighbors in southern Chester County to come to the West Grove health center anytime between 9AM and 7PM to make sure their kids have a warm and comfortable coat this winter.

2023 is the 16th year for the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation New Coat Program. Concordville Subaru and Nissan is one of nearly 180 dealerships in Philadelphia and surrounding counties that participate in this vital initiative to provide coats for children living in poverty. The New Coat Program meets an essential need in the Philadelphia five-county area; local social service agencies list winter coats as one of the most requested items in the populations they serve. The distribution network of social service agencies, healthcare providers, homeless shelters, YMCAs, and public schools are thankful for the generous supply of brand-new coats that put a smile on kids’ faces.
