Marie A. Papa
Marie A. Papa, 84 passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kennett Square, PA., Marie was the daughter of Nicholas P. Carlino and Jennie Landolfi Carlino.
Marie spent over 40 years as the owner of the Kendal-Crosslands Communities Beauty Shops. Marie loved creating beautiful hairstyles, talking with her beloved clients, and listening their wonderful stories. Marie always said, “I could write a book.”
Marie’s greatest joy in life was being a grandmother. She was the kind of “mommom” who could be found riding on the back of a dirt bike, playing hide and seek, or sitting at the kitchen table laughing, talking, and telling stories.
Marie loved spending time at the Jersey Shore, especially Wildwood, New Jersey, a place she frequented every year since she was a young girl. Summer did not end without a trip to Mack’s Pizza, Douglas Fudge, and a cone of her favorite ice cream.
Marie is survived by her daughter’s Susan List and her husband Fred, Deborah Papa, and her son Joseph Papa and his wife Carla. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica (Jon) Krepol, Kevin List, Anthony, Giana, Mia, and Angelo Papa; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Anthony “Sonny” Papa, as well as her brothers Nicholas P. Carlino and Donald S. Carlino, Sr.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on December 22, 2023 from 10:30 A.M. to 12 P.M., with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12 P.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 2503 Centerville Rd. Wilmington DE. 19808. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
