The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said Friday that eastbound and westbound U.S. 322 and the bridge that carries Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) over the highway in West Goshen Township, Chester County, were reopened this evening.
U.S. 322 and the Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) bridge over the highway were closed early Thursday morning, December 21, after the bridge and roadway below sustained damage from a large vehicle strike.
PennDOT’s contractor repaired the damage on the structure as well as underneath the structure on U.S. 322 where debris from the bridge strike had fallen.
While U.S. 322 and the Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) bridge have reopened to traffic, the ramp from Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) to eastbound U.S. 322 will remain closed while additional repairs are performed in the coming weeks.
Built in 1955, the single-span, steel stringer Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) bridge over U.S. 322 is 77-feet-long, 80-feet-wide, and carries about 15,691 vehicles per day.
