Attempting to flee accident scene leads to more charges

New Garden police said a Coatesville driver  struck another man with his vehicle

The aftermath of a July 6 accident turned violent, and now a 31-year-old Coatesville man in in custody, New Garden Township police said.

FaIsrael Franco-Venites, also known as Javier Maldonado, was charged with drunken-driving, aggravated assault, and related offenses after he allegedly attempted to flee an accident in which he was involved in the 900 block of Newark Road.  As he was leaving, his vehicle struck a man from the other vehicle, sending him onto the hood of the defendant’s vehicle, police said.  Franco-Venites, who had previously been deported for illegal entry in the U.S., was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $50,000 cash bail, police said.

Shinai Davidson, 27, of Kennett Square, was taken into custody July 3 for allegedly  robbing a business in the 1000 block of Baltimore Pike on June 28, police said.  Davidson, linked by DNA, has also been charged with burglary and related offenses for an incident that occurred Sept. 12, 2010,  in the unit block of Pelham Drive.  She is currently being held in Chester County Prison, police said.

Chelsea Szczepkowski, 21, of Kennett Square, was taken into custody on July 10 in the 500 block of Oakland Court after police received a call she was in possession of illegal narcotics.  A search discovered 10 bags of heroin and two needles, police said, adding that she was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
