AGSD announces process for hiring new Superintendent

The Avon Grove School District (AGSD) has begun a search for its next Superintendent. After more than 11 years of service to the Avon Grove School District, Dr. M. Christopher Marchese announced his resignation effective January 3, 2025. He will be moving into the role of Executive Director of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit following his departure.

Dr. Marchese expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Avon Grove community, stating, “It has been the greatest privilege of my professional career to serve this community. Our collective achievements—from innovative educational programs to state-of-the-art facilities—have positioned our students for extraordinary futures. While my chapter is closing, I have absolute confidence in the district’s continued growth and the incredible potential of our students, educators, and staff.”

The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has been entrusted with facilitating the search for the next Superintendent of the Avon Grove School District. The AGSD Board of School Directors approved the contract with the CCIU during the October School Board meeting. The CCIU does not charge Chester County school districts for this service.

The search process will commence immediately, with the aim of identifying a qualified and visionary leader who will build upon the district’s successes and uphold its commitment to excellence in education.

Opportunities for input from families, staff, students, and the community will be an integral part of the search process. The CCIU will be hosting community forums, surveys, and stakeholder meetings to gather valuable insights and perspectives on the desired qualities and priorities for the next Superintendent. The job posting for the Avon Grove School District Superintendent position has been officially posted on the CCIU website and multiple state and national search websites and will remain open for applications until January 22, 2025.
