Youth organizations to host food drives for needy families

Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) announced that three local youth organizations are stepping up in a big way this spring! Unionville Recreation Association (URA), FC Chesco, and Healthy Kids Running Club are teaming up to host a series of food drives to support the KACS Food Cupboard and help provide healthy, nutritious food to families in need.

Each month, the KACS Food Cupboard serves over 3,000 individuals in our community. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of these young athletes and their families, KACS will be able to continue meeting the growing need for food assistance.

Upcoming Food Drive Event details:

  • Saturday, April 26:
URA baseball and softball teams will be collecting non-perishable food donations during their Opening Season Ceremony and Parade at the URA Baseball Complex fields. Each team’s donations will be weighed, and the top collectors will win a special prize—turning giving back into a friendly competition!
  • Sunday, April 27:
FC Chesco and Healthy Kids Running Club are joining forces to host a food drive at Patton Middle School. Collection stations will be available for athletes and their families to conveniently drop off donations.
  • Week of April 28:
FC Chesco Competitive teams will continue the giving spirit by hosting an evening food drive during their practices at the Glen Willow fields.

“We are so inspired by the generosity of these youth organizations,” said Leah Reynolds, Chief Executive Officer of KACS. “Not only are they helping to fill the shelves at KACS Food Cupboard, but they’re also building a legacy of compassion and community spirit in the next generation.”
