Lionville Elementary’s Blue Ribbon Team is recognized by State Representative Danielle Friel Otten for their outstanding achievements.

Lionville Elementary School marked a historic milestone on Oct. 23, celebrating its 65th anniversary while also being named an inaugural Pennsylvania Blue Ribbon School by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The celebration featured a school-wide assembly and a historical tour of the building for guests. Superintendent Dr. Robert O’Donnell, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Louis Chance, and Principal Shelda Perry shared remarks honoring Lionville’s achievements and history, followed by State Representative Danielle Friel Otten, who recognized Lionville’s Blue Ribbon Team and the school’s ongoing commitment to excellence. The program also included recognition of Lionville’s previous leaders and a performance by the school’s Pride Squad and chorus. Displays of artifacts from throughout the years invited guests to tour the building and reminisce about Lionville’s rich history.

Lionville Elementary is one of just 13 schools statewide to receive the prestigious Pennsylvania Blue Ribbon recognition, which honors schools for outstanding academic performance and for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap among students.
“At Lionville, we believe that learning thrives when relationships are strong, expectations are clear, and every student is engaged in meaningful growth,” said Principal Shelda Perry. “Our staff is deeply committed to both the heart and mind of every learner, fostering a culturally responsive environment where all students feel a true sense of belonging.”
Serving approximately 660 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, Lionville Elementary has a long-standing tradition of excellence. Its strong partnerships with families, supported by an active Home & School Association, help create a vibrant and supportive learning community. From student engagement and academic rigor to initiatives like the Cultural Connections Club and recognition for PBIS and Title I excellence, Lionville Elementary empowers students to think critically, take ownership of their learning, and prepare for success in a global society.
Congratulations to the students, staff, families, and community members who have contributed to Lionville Elementary’s enduring tradition of excellence.
