Wallet was turned in, computer equipment, jewelry allegedly stolen

Whoever lost a wallet during the Mushroom Festival should contact Kennett Square police, who said today that it was turned in after being found Sept. 8 at West State and Lafayette Streets.

In other reports, police said the following people were arrested for driving under the influence: Guillermo Arizaga-Garcia, 34, of Kennett Square, who was stopped on Aug. 28 at 8:46 p.m. in the 100 block of South Walnut Street; Susanne Fleming, 37, of West Grove, 2:19 a.m. Sept. 1 in the 700 block of West State Street; and Miguel Perez, 25, of Kennett Square, at 2:29 a.m. Sept. 6 at East Cypress and Marshall Streets.

Following a traffic stop Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. in the 100 block of South Union Street, police said Jose Hernandez, 24, of Kennett Square, was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; Manuel Bedolla, 18, of West Grove, was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and underage drinking; and Jose Quintana, 20, of Kennett Square, was cited for underage drinking. Five hours later, Quintana was charged with open lewdness and disorderly conduct in the 500 block of West Cypress Street, said police.

Gustavo Castaneda-Mendoza, 19, and Omar Reza, 18, both of Kennett Square, were arrested for underage drinking on Sept. 2 at 8:20 p.m. in the 500 block of South Union Street, police said.

Police are investigating the theft of Pa. registration plate KSK81, reportedly stolen from the 300 block of East State Street sometime between May 1 and Aug. 30. An investigation into the theft of sterling silver flatware from a residence in the 500 block of Hazel Avenue on Aug. 14 led to three arrests, police said.  On Aug. 29, police said theft and conspiracy charges were lodged against Sean Butler, 30, Lindsey Bryd, 27, and Ashley Waltz, 24, all of Kennett Square.

An arson investigation was launched after someone lit a jacket, shirt and patio table on fire on the porch of a residence in the 200 block of East Linden Street at 8:45 p.m. Sept. 11, police said.

State police from the Avondale barracks are investigating a Sept. 10 burglary that occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Police said computer equipment and jewelry were stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Old Kennett Road. Anyone with information is asked to call 610-268-2022.

A Newark, De., man was cited for a stop-sign infraction at 3:56 a.m. Thursday in New Garden Township, state police said. Octavio Vezazquez-Munoz, 20, was traveling north on Newark Road, came to the stop sign at Starr Road, and failed to yield to a driver who had stopped first. Police said Vezazquez-Munoz struck the vehicle, but no one was injured.

A Kennett Square woman was cited for careless driving after allegedly causing a three-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. 1  at 6:32 p.m. Saturday, state police said. Sally H. Lawes, 41, was distracted and was unable to stop for a red traffic light at Kendal Drive, rear-ending the vehicle in front of her, which then hit the vehicle in front of it, police said.
