Six county arts organizations will receive state funds, state Sen. Andy Dinniman announced Thursday.

The  grants, which support the arts programs and operations of local nonprofits, were recently approved by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. The recipients are the Brandywine Ballet Company, $4,630; the Chester County Art Association, $8,274; Historic Yellow springs, $4,426; People’s Light and Theatre Company, $61,217; Phoenix Village Art Center, $2,387; and West Whiteland Friends of the Park, $2,000.

“Our arts and cultural organizations are important to the education of our children, the quality of life in our communities, the preservation of our heritage and the success of numerous local economies across Pennsylvania,” Dinniman said in a press release. “And it is crucial that we continue to support them in their efforts and programs.”
